Is there a new order to the zodiac community, or is it all a big misunderstanding?




Horoscope followers began to question their astrological identities after the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported that the zodiac chart is off by a month, reports CNN.


“I defined the zodiac by the constellations that are in the background when you look where the sun, moon, and stars are,” Parke Kunkle, the man who spurred the recent astrology debate, said. “Ophiuchus [the thirteenth constellation] has been around a long time, and the sun has been going through Ophiuchus for thousands of years.”


According to the Los Angeles Times, with Ophiuchus entering the picture, the other twelve signs occupy more or less space on the zodiac calendar, altering many individuals’ zodiac sign.


“This story is born periodically as if someone has discovered some truth. It’s not news,” astrologer Jeff Jawer told CNN.


Apparently, astronomers have been informing the world when the sun is in which constellation for years. Kunkle even admits that he isn’t the first member of the scientific community to bring up this issue. So why are individuals suddenly rethinking their lucky lotto numbers and reassessing their relationship compatibility?


“Our identities are precious,” astrologer Shelley Ackerman said about the strong reactions to the news. “If someone challenges your belief system, it’s very threatening. You want to hold on to the fact ‘at least I’m a Libra.’”


And the "thousand year old debate" continues.
