The Lakers will trade guard Sasha Vujacic and a first-round 2011 draft pick to New Jersey for forward Joe Smith as part of a three-team deal, the Los Angeles Times reported Tuesday.
The paper said the deal, which is seen as a dump of Vujacic's nearly $5.5 million salary, is conditional upon the 35-year-old Smith passing a physical.
It also involves the Nets trading forward Terrence Williams to the Rockets, a deal the Houston Chronicle reported would give New Jersey a 2012 first-round draft pick.
Smith and Williams were both kept out of Tuesday's game against Philadelphia, while Vujacic was kept from the Lakers' game in Washington.
Williams tweeted Tuesday a thank you to New Jersey fans while adding, "go Rockets."
The Chronicle reported that the Rockets are looking to deal guard Jermaine Taylor to free up room for Williams.
Vujacic has spent his entire seven-year NBA career with the Lakers and has averaged just 1.8 points and 1.2 assists in 11 games this season.
Smith, a 16-year pro, has only appeared in four games for the Nets this season, averaging 6.3 minutes per appearance.
Williams has played in 10 Nets games this season, averaging 6.7 points and 3.6 rebounds. He also spent time with New Jersey's Development League team before being recalled on December 7.
