A celebrated heist king Tabrez Mirza Khan urf Tees Maar Khan wants to fake making a film in a village, so he can loot a train full of antiques that will pass the sets. The villagers will help in the robbery, assuming the said heist to be a scene in the film they’re all extras in. How can you take this stuff seriously? Nobody intends to. But then, what do you do when, for most of the while, you aren’t laughing either? No idea.
For the movie’s idea of course, the makers here have gone After The Fox(Vittorio De Sica’s 1966 Peter Sellers starrer). This copying business is understandable, given these pleasant star hunters must have spent the rest of their waking hours media-hopping and money-talking, mainly around a corny song, Sheela Ki Jawani. The track remains their only saving grace. So you can imagine.
The script is still one that prolific Priyadarshan would have merrily plagiarised for Christmas -- among over two-dozen films he’s done in less than a decade. Akshay Kumar would’ve been the hero, as usual. The fuss wouldn’t have been the same. Because they wouldn’t have mastered the fart of making a three-hour long picture designed around cutting a minute-long promo. That’s enough to keep the excitement for the first weekend’s audience going. Who gives a rat’s bum for a film; it’s lazy old Bollywood after all.

Candice Boucher, a South African Playboy hottie who features in Percept's untitled next, essays the role of a sand artist in the espionage drama.
Directed by Prashant Chaddha (Aap Ka Surror), the film stars Sachin Joshi (the Managing Director of an energy drink endorsed by Shah Rukh Khan) and Arya Babbar.
The beauty had to train from a professional artiste for the role. She says, "Learning from a sand artiste from Belarus was an amazing experience.
It's an intricate art more difficult than oils and watercolours on canvas as sand keeps shifting all the time. One's concentration has to be sharper and more focussed."
As reported 'Playmate on board' (Hitlist, June 11), Candice was the nude centrespread attraction of Playboy magazine for April 2010 and is also the brand ambassador for an international jeans brand.
She was signed for the film during the FIFA World Cup in June (it was held in her home country) to up the project's glam quotient.

The sad news Tuesday of Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds' divorce conjures a lot of questions, like who gets the New York apartment, the L.A. home, maybe custody of the favorite frozen-yogurt joint. But what about "The Whale"?
A several-ton orca looms over the Reynolds-Johansson split, in the form of a documentary narrated by Reynolds and executive produced by both actors. The film follows Luna, a killer whale separated from his pack near British Columbia — not far from where Johansson and Reynolds wed in a secret ceremony in September 2008.
The Aumsville, Ore., tornado that touched down before noon on Tuesday isn't the strongest twister to hit the region--but it is the strongest one to hit the I-5 corridor in the Northwest in more than a decade.
Based on the extensive damage to the Willamette Valley town, National Weather Service meteorologists investigating the scene say it appears this storm is what is called an EF2.
The Enhanced Fujita scale is named for Japanese-American meteorologist Ted Fujita, who had the idea that the wind speeds of a tornado could be determined by the extent of the damage the storm causes.
The scale goes from zero to five, with five being the strongest. Most of the twisters in Oregon are usually a zero or a one.
A tornado that is an EF2 has winds estimated to be between 110-135 miles an hour. The strongest winds ever recorded in a tornado happened in 1999 outside of Oklahoma City, Okla., with winds clocked around 301 miles an hour.
The last time Oregon saw a strong tornado was in 1993, when a tornado struck a rural area near Newberg. No people were hurt, but some cows were killed.
Other notable tornadoes that hit the region was an EF0 that hit Lincoln City in 2009. That late evening twister pulled roofs off several homes in the Lands End neighborhood on the north part of town.
On Jan. 10 of 2008 a twister hit Vancouver, Wash.--that EF1 tornado destroyed a boathouse along the shore of Vancouver Lake.
The strongest and deadliest West Coast tornado happened right here in the Portland metro area almost 40 years ago. In April of 1972 a twister that formed on the Oregon side of the Columbia, went across to Vancouver and destroyed many homes and an elementary school.
More than 300 people were injured in that twister--and six people were killed.

Whenever a new movie hits the theaters one question that comes to most of audience and media is how different is that movie form other films. This question seems to have irked director-turned-actor Upendra, who is making his comeback to direction after 10 years with the movie Super(Hand Symbol). Uppi says that he is totally confused and upset with it.
As a part of promotion of Super, real star Upendra was on a programme of a leading FM radio station of Bangalore yesterday. Talking about his film, the Radio RJ of station asked how different was Super from his previous films. Answering him, the superstar expressed his disappointment. He said, "I'm totally confused with the phrase 'different cinema'. I really don't understand this term, which has been often asked to many filmmakers."
According to Upendra, most of his directorial ventures deal with the things that he has undergone in his real life. He said, "Basically, I'm a director and one of the Kannada producers asked me to act in a film. So I acted in the film A besides directing it. As a writer, I included my own experience and bad condition that I have undergone in my life."
He added, "In addition to these things, I have included some of the commercial elements to please the audience. That's all. I haven't done anything different. I request you not to take these things in other way and brand me as different director. It hurts me very badly. I'm not at all different director."
However, Uppi's latest directorial venture Super, which is releasing across the state today, has created lot of curiosity among the audience because he has not revealed most of details of the films other than actress Nayantara, Tulip Joshi, musician V Harikrishna and cameraman Ashok Kashyap. He has not even given hint about the story of the film. Now, it should be seen how the audience would respond to his film.
KOLKATA: Chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee on Thursday urged teachers in various schools affiliated to West Bengal Board of Secondary Education to devote some more time and attention to academically backward students who hail from poor families and those who are unable to take private tuitions.
Speaking at the inauguration of Nivedita Bhavan (a new administrative building constructed by WBBSE) in Salt Lake, the CM said, "Not all the students will do well. What about those who get a mere second division and are eventually elbowed out? Those families who have the money can afford to engage tutors — one, two, three — to help their child make up the gap and get good marks. But what about those who can't? Can we just wash our hands of the matter? I would request teachers to pay extra attention to them. The board must ensure that the teachers take extra classes if required for these kids and allocate more time."

Brutality has a new name and it's called Rakta Charitra. The first part was gruesome. The second part, well, is not as violent, but is a bloodbath nonetheless. I don't think Hindi cinema has ever witnessed such gruesome murders, such manslaughter and such scenes of carnage ever. But beneath the blood and gore, slaughter and assassination lies the shocking story of enmity between two families.
Rakta Charitra undertakes to enlighten the story of vengeance in two parts. Rakta Charitra 1 depicted the rise of Pratap and how he became a demigod for the poor and the exploited. The Part 2 unfolds a new story, although it's linked with Part 1. The challenge lies in making it more attention-grabbing than its precursor.
Brutality, gore and violent behaviour are indispensable attributes of Rakta Charitra 2. The story in itself is nothing more than a customary vendetta drama, but what makes you connect compellingly with the narrative is the fact that Ramgopal Varma [RGV] has treated it like he was recounting a first-hand version of what really transpired between the adversaries.
RGV is a veteran when it comes to making films on gangland or aggression and he proved his credentials in Rakta Charitra 1. Frankly,Rakta Charitra 1 wasn't a masterpiece, although it held your attention like RGV's accomplished works, mainly Satya, Company and Sarkar However, you cannot
